String Quartet Tribute to Iron Maiden (2003)

THE STRING QUARTET TRIBUTE TO IRON MAIDEN
Vitamin Record - Little Emo String Quartet

As with classical instrument ensemble rendition to Iron Maiden, the string quartet is logical choice. With history of string quartet form started as early in Haydn's era, nowdays seen string quartet booming in almost all genre of music. They are well enough repertoire in classical from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Janacek, Bartok etc actually. But this not enough for aspiring musician wanted non classical theme. Then in pop and especially rock/metal genre, the string quartet seems like doing a bridging mission to connected both styles. Many metal songs being transcribed into string quartet playing, so does the Iron Maiden's.

But this rendition of Iron Maiden music didn't go to naive with notes per notes, rather it is good little work in re arrangement and make the music suitable for this chamber ensemble. The Number of the Beast got a nice interpretation, so does Powerslave. But then the song selection didn't use any of Iron Maiden semi-acoustic song, but surprisingly all 'fast' and 'catchy' songs. The Little Emo String Quartet doing this fine. If you can stand the raspy sounds of violins, the elegant viola and melancholic cello, this album can serves you a good Iron Maiden listening, when not wanting to heard any distortion sounds. 3.5/5 rating.

The Official blurbs:
Besides having millions of fans worldwide, Iron Maiden is a metal’s band metal band, having influenced the likes of such other powerhouses as Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and every nu-metal band this side of Godsmack. And, truth be told, this little band from England with the fencing expert singer and creepy Mascot, “Eddie,” have, with their influential riffs and dark flair, shaped and formed rock into a real heavy metal. So out of the vault comes The String Quartet Tribute to Iron Maiden a haunting tribute Iron Maiden. Featuring one of the world’s most innovative and exciting string quartets playing some of Iron Maiden’s most devoured songs (“Two Minutes to Midnight,” “The Trooper,” “Run To The Hills”), this one will be guaranteed to please everyone under heaven… and hell, for that matter
