Numbers From the Beast - All Star Salute Iron Maiden 2005

Numbers From the Beast - All Star Salute to Iron Maiden (2005)

And here comes the first official and serious works of Iron Maiden tribute album. The release is to commemorate Iron Maiden 25th anniversary, with Roadrunner's all star team up to form formation for every songs. We can argue some of rendition give in different view and feel on the song. They are all respectively good up to the point it become standard cover version. Singers put in different style according to them, except for returning Paul Di'Anno covering his own Wrathchild.

My favorite is Nuno Bettencourt team up with Billy Shehan doing Aces High, Nuno improved the main riff with his Extreme - funk riff, then Billy helped the Bass section covering Steve Harris with hard rock style and doing the main Aces High riff. Jeff Scott Soto give an enjoyable sing and Vinnie Appice put in different angle of drumming, top version. Then Mark Slaughter in Can I Play with Madness? which is very glam metal feel. In Fear of the Dark, it is very Testament thrash metal feel, with Chuck Billy in vocal supported by DIO guitarist Craig Goldy. It's completely darker and good one. Tim Ripper Owens sing a high energetic and power metal feel to Flight of Icarus together with Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich. Motorhead maestro, Lemmy turnes The Trooper into Motorhead version as he team with guitarist Phil Campbell. Then John Bush reunion with Scott Ian of Anthrax doing one of Iron Maiden newer material, the Wickerman. The rest of cover also stay true to their form, decent one is 2 Minutes to Midnight by Joe Lynn Turner and Richie Kotzen / Bob Kullick. Chris Jericho with Paul Gilbert in The Evil That Men Do.

Overall very great performer saluting Iron Maiden best songs. No obscured tracks here, all best of the beast hits. Bob Kullick and Bret Chassen doing the production. Derek Riggs, the original Eddie's mascot designer returned to give the artwork for this album. Nine stars album that will give you more love to Iron Maiden. 5/5 rating.
