Fozzy - The Prisoner (2000)

Song : The Prisoner
Performer : Fozzy
Origin: USA
Album : Fozzy, 2000

For over 20 years, Fozzy had been criminally locked in a room of sushi and geishas...forced under the sword  to write many heavy metal classics that we actually heard today. This is a story according Fozzy, the heavy metal band that frontman by Chris Jericho. He is quite serious about singing the metal tunes as his talent is as hard as his power slam. Well, The Prisoner was actually one of their 'materials', their 'true version' is strong, and crispy in style of heavy metal. Singing is well done, as well the rest of instrumentation. Guitarist in charge are extremely original in style and tunes. For a band 'in this type', the production is cyrstal clear. Come to heard this real rockstar we strangely never heard before, in their debut album Fozzy, as well several songs that had been sung by Black Sabbath and eye raising other line ups.

The real The Prisoner (?)....in unbelievable perfect cover.

Brown Brigade - Hallowed Be Thy Name (2007)

Song : Hallowed Be Thy Name
Performer : Brown Brigade
Origin: Canada
Album : Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness 2007

Brown Brigade is heavy metal band formed by ex Sum 41guitarist Dave "Brownsound" Baksh. The version of Hallowed Be Thy Name is strickly following the original, but the re-works of every instrumentation and vocals is worth listening. Singer is slightly weird at the beginning but eventually developed into awesome performances. The duo guitars works are excellent, the rhythm and solos are sounds just like the '80s. Bass are audible with drums work also good. The intro is too fast making it a bit unfamiliar but this is pay off in the song section. The version is on their debut album Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness 2007.

Interesting version of Hallowed Be Thy Name and high quality of sounds

There is little information available for Metal Styx. They are from Russia obviously and the cover of Brave New World found in their 2012 album, the titled translated as Magical Amulet. They are Black metal band with a folk instrument attached. The solos with violin sound is also awesome.

Interesting version of Brave New World in folk black metal.

Isaak - Wrathchild (2013)

Song : Wrathchild
Performer : Isaak (formerly named Gandhi's Gunn)
Origin: Italy
Album : The Longer the Beard The Harder The Sound, 2013

Isaak is Italy Stoner Metal band. They were previously under the name Gandhi's Gunn and released two full albums and one EP before switching to new label (Small Stone Recording) and changed name to Isaak. The version of Wrathchild is on their new 'Isaak' album The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound , which is a re-released because they already released by Gandhi's Gunn in 2012. Wrathchild is only found in the 'Isaak' 2013 released.

Wrathchild is a perfect song to be converted into stoner metal version. The riff turns into perfect slower stoner feel. The vocals is the best to fit, guitar sounds in stoned '80s sounds, remind you of Metallica Cliff Burton bass distortion in Anesthesia Pulling Teeth sounds. Guitar solos are great. This is the latest Iron Maiden cover song by April 2013. Supported the band new album .

Good version of Wrathchild in stoner metal.

Song : Flash of the Blade
Performer : Arachnes
Origin: Italy
Album : The Goddess Temple, 1997, re-issue 2001

Arachnes is power metal band from Italy. Just like legion of power metal band in Italy, they are into concept album, neo-classical and Rhapsody of Fire thing. The version of Flash of the Blade is very orchestral. The drum seems a bit too ridiculous in the start, but then mixed well into the song. Singer is good and enjoyable.  The album The Goddess Temple is strong power metal album worth to check by any power metal fan.

The orchestration and keyboard solos are enjoyable, as well the vocal.

Performer : Kreator
Origin: Germany
Album : Phantom Antichrist , B-sides 2012

In support for Kreator's Phantom Antichrist, The Number of the Beast was included in their B-Sides bonus. Just expected from the veteran thrash metaller, Kreator put in a thrash scream version of the song. The song's melodies had been flattened to give the effect of raw.

Top version of The Number, just expected from the Kreator himself.

Styles: Thrash Metal
Faithful to Original version: yes

Necromantia - The Number of the Beast (2001)

Song : The Number of the Beast
Performer : Necromantia
Origin: Greece
Album : 12 Years Doing Devils Work - Covering Evil, 2001

Necromantia is black metal act from Greece. Their Number of the Beast is something different. Start with Sebastian Bach intro, the song is somewhat arranged in very rough and raw version. Bass are up in the front frequency, the guitar distortion is very thrash metal. Singer is okay but the screaming is a little over the top. Solos are there as original, and the ending with choirs is also a strange mix.

Strange mixing in sounds and a little unusual stuff in this version of Numbers.

Styles: black metal
Faithful to Original version: fair
Re-Arrangements: 3/5 (1=notes per notes, 5=extreme deviation)
Vocals: 4/5
Rhythm guitar: 3/5
